Recognizing the Signs
Awareness is one of the strongest tools we have in the fight against human trafficking. Many victims go unnoticed simply because people don’t know what to look for. By learning the warning signs, we can help protect vulnerable individuals and connect them with the support they need.
-
Unusual Work or Living Conditions: Victims may work excessively long hours, live where they work, or be isolated from friends and family.

-
Signs of Control: A trafficker may speak for the victim, control their money, identification, or movement.

-
Lack of Freedom: Victims may not be allowed to leave their workplace or living situation on their own.

-
Physical and Emotional Abuse: Visible injuries, untreated medical conditions, or signs of fear, anxiety, or depression may indicate exploitation.

-
Inconsistent Stories: Victims may seem coached or unable to speak freely about their situation.
